Using Erasmus+ Branding Correctly
Guidance for Irish Higher Education Institutions
Clear and consistent communication is essential to the success of Erasmus+ projects. It ensures compliance with European Commission requirements, increases visibility for your institution and helps demonstrate the real value of EU funding at local, national and international levels. This page outlines what Irish HEIs need to know about correct Erasmus+ branding and how to apply it across your communications.
Why Erasmus+ Branding Matters
The European Commission places strong emphasis on visibility. All Erasmus+ beneficiaries are required to clearly acknowledge EU funding in their communications and outputs.
Correct Erasmus+ branding:
- Fulfils contractual obligations under the Erasmus+ Programme Guide
- Builds recognition and trust in Erasmus+
- Strengthens your institution’s international profile
- Helps audiences quickly identify Erasmus‑funded activity
Correct branding should be built into your communications from the outset.

For any activity, material or output funded by Erasmus+, you must include the EU emblem (flag) accompanied by the official funding statement: “Co‑funded by the European Union”.
The Erasmus+ logo should also be used alongside the EU emblem for programme recognition.
- The logo must not be altered, recoloured or recreated
- The tagline “Enriching lives, opening minds” should remain as part of the logo
- The Erasmus+ logo cannot replace the EU emblem on funded materials
